Located in what has been known as the Maritimes, Nova
Scotia lies just across the Bay of Funday from Maine. If you wish to
drive, you can reach Nova Scotia overland through New Brunswick.
Prince Edward Island lies to the north and is in between both New
Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Aside from a very small connection to New
Brunswick, Nova Scotia appears to look like two islands.
Nova Scotia is larger
than it looks on the map. Driving it doesn't take forever but I've
never felt hemmed in and driving around is both fun and beautiful.
Many people envision a harsh climate and while it can get nasty with a
Nor'easter blowing through or a large snow - the tourist season can
stretch from mid-April through October depending on where you are.
Our property, which comprises of approximately fourteen acres, is
situated on a hill overlooking several small islands and the Atlantic
Ocean beyond. Initially, the view was blocked by some trees but
since I was going to need firewood to feed the woodstove, some of the
trees were cut down in order to improve the view and make for firewood.
